Browns owner believes team can work things out with Manziel
CLEVELAND (AP) Browns owner Jimmy Haslam feels the team's relationship with troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel can be repaired.
Manziel had a second straight difficult season with Cleveland, one that included him being benched for misbehavior off the field. Haslam said Manziel made ''undeniable'' progress as a starter, but the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner's commitment remains a major question mark.
Appearing at the Greater Cleveland Sports Awards with his wife and co-owner, Dee, Haslam was asked about recent videos showing Manziel partying. He said the team has certain expectations of its players and the 23-year-old has ''got to live up to those expectations.''
New Browns coach Hue Jackson has not yet spoken to Manziel, but Haslam believes ''he'll get around to talking to him.''
Haslam said any decision about Manziel's future with Cleveland will be made by Jackson and new vice president of football operations Sashi Brown.
