Broncos' Green leaning on fellow TE Daniels to master new offense

Owen Daniels is beginning his 10th season under Gary Kubiak -- but his first season as Virgil Green's sounding board.

Green, a fifth-year tight end, is already picking up the finer points of Kubiak's new Broncos offense. But when he has a question about the smaller details -- routes and zone blocking reads and the like -- he takes it to Daniels.

"I ask him (Daniels) questions all the time," Green told the team's official website. "He’s probably going to get sick of me because just the little details about things."

Green wants to master Kubiak's attack like Daniels did. Then, Green can translate his playbook knowledge to the field, where he's Denver's most athletic tight end option in the post-Julius Thomas era.

Green caught his first career touchdown pass last season. But in Kubiak's tight-end friendly scheme (and with more snaps to go around), more could be on the way.

Especially if Green keeps hounding Daniels and paying close attention to the small details of his new playbook.

"I'm very comfortable (in the new offense)," Green said. "I understand how things are supposed to be. Like I said, it's just understanding the little details about things and we have time to get those things down."
