Bersin on Panthers' practice squad; Brandon Williams cut

Published Sep. 26, 2015 1:28 p.m. ET

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) The Panthers have signed wide receiver Brenton Bersin to the 53-man roster and waived tight end Brandon Williams.

The move was made Saturday because the Panthers will be without receiver Jerricho Cotchery, who is sidelined this week because of a high ankle sprain.

Bersin had been on the team's practice squad. He played in 15 games last season for the Panthers with one start. He had 13 catches for 151 yards and one touchdown.

He did not make the roster this season and was waived before being added to the practice squad.
