Bennett Doesn't Practice - Collins, Bolden Set to Go
Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett was held out of Friday’s practice with a lingering ankle injury. He is questionable for Sunday.
New England’s other big threat at the tight end position had been limited all week in practice, but there’s no indication he’ll miss Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills. So far this year, Bennett has caught 27 of 35 targets and scored four touchdowns. One of his best efforts came in Week 4 against these same Bills when he hauled in five catches for 109 yards — the lone bright spot in an otherwise miserable afternoon for the Patriots offense.
Cornerback Jonathan Jones was a new addition to the injury report Friday. He got in limited practice time and is listed as questionable with a hip issue. Jones is primarily a special teams contributor.
Staying with special teams, running back/special teamer Brandon Bolden was removed from the injury report altogether this week. He suffered an ugly looking knee injury against Buffalo in Week 4, but the damage wasn’t as bad as it could have been. He missed games against Cleveland and Cincinnati before returning in limited action last week against Pittsburgh.
Linebacker Jamie Collins was removed from the injury report as well. He had been dealing with a hip issue and missed the Week 6 contest against the Bengals. Running back Dion Lewis also returned to the practice field for the second day in a row.
