Bears interview 2 GM candidates
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) The Chicago Bears interviewed Tennessee Titans vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson and Houston Texans director of pro personnel Brian Gaine on Tuesday for their general manager job.
The Bears fired general manager Phil Emery and coach Marc Trestman after going 5-11 and missing the playoffs for the seventh time in eight years.
Dawson has spent the past eight years in Tennessee's front office. He was one of three potential candidates recommended by the Fritz Pollard Alliance Foundation to Bears consultant Ernie Accorsi, who was hired to help with the GM and coach searches. The group promotes the hiring of minorities in the NFL.
Gaine, who has a long history on the pro scouting side, just finished his first season with the Texans. He previously held high-ranking jobs with Miami, Dallas and the New York Jets, working with Bill Parcells in those three places.
The Bears have interviewed Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn and Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase for the coaching job.
