Batch to start at QB for Steelers

Published Nov. 20, 2012 12:00 a.m. ET

Charlie Batch is back on the field for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday the 37-year-old Batch will start at quarterback on Sunday in Cleveland and the team is bringing wide receiver Plaxico Burress back to provide depth at wide receiver.

Batch is 5-2 while subbing for Roethlisberger through the years. Roethlisberger and Byron Leftwich are both out indefinitely with rib injuries. Batch passed for 208 yards in a 27-0 victory over St. Louis last December.

The Steelers (6-4) are down two receivers at the moment after Jerricho Cotchery fractured his ribs in Sunday night's loss to Baltimore. Antonio Brown has missed the last two games with an ankle injury.

Plaxico spent the first five seasons of his career with the Steelers from 2000-2004.
