AP source: Dolphins safety Delmas tears ACL in right knee

Published Aug. 19, 2015 10:45 a.m. ET

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) A person familiar with the situation says Miami Dolphins safety Louis Delmas has again torn the ACL in his right knee during a scrimmage with the Carolina Panthers, which will likely sideline him for the season.

The person confirmed the severity of the injury to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because it hadn't been announced publicly. Delmas was carted off the practice field Wednesday after injuring the same ACL he tore last December against the Baltimore Ravens.

The latest injury occurred during the first of two days of scrimmages against the Panthers at Wofford College. It came moments after Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin was carted off the field with a leg injury.
