Alabama QB Blake Sims to try out as RB and WR for Redskins

Former Alabama quarterback Blake Sims made plays with his feet and with his arm at the college level, but no NFL team has decided to give him a shot at quarterback so far. So instead, unlike other college quarterback in the past, Sims is seizing the opportunity to try out at another position.

According to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, Sims will travel to Washington to work out for the Redskins as a running back and/or slot wide receiver during the team's rookie minicamp this week, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

Sims has some experience at running back already. He spent his freshman year at Alabama as a running back. He will also get his opportunity to showcase his skills as a pass catcher. 

We have seen former college quarterbacks attempt to make a position change in at the pro level before, and results have varied. For the most part, success has been difficult to come by. We have seen Denard Robinson catch on as the Jaguars running back in 2014, but even his success was short lived due to an injury. Sims faces an uphill battle to catch on with the Redskins.
