Wesley Johnson on the 2014-15 Lakers: 'Nobody was playing together'

Wesley Johnson, who spent the last two years with the Los Angeles Lakers, wasn't too kind when discussing his former team at the training camp of his new team, the Los Angeles Clippers.

Johnson said last season's Lakers team was primarily out for themselves, and that there wasn't much structure or organization behind the scenes. Hmm, one can only wonder who he’s talking about.

From Janis Carr of the Orange County Register:

"Johnson, who played three seasons with the Lakers, said Tuesday that last season’s injury-filled 21-61 debacle was frustrating at best. He said there was a constant air of uncertainty once the game started because every player wanted to play the hero.

"'You would go out there and want to play the right way, but everyone wanted to prove themselves,” Johnson said as the Clippers wrapped up their brief training camp at UC Irvine.

"'So nobody really knew what was going on. Nobody ever knew, so it was hard for anyone to come in and get into a good rhythm or flow. Nobody was playing together." ...

"'Here, you have a clear mind going into the season (of what’s expected), so it’s going to be really helpful for me,” Johnson said. “I know what to do and what to expect.'”

Talk about shots fired. Johnson is clearly criticizing Lakers head coach Byron Scott, but it's a little bit harder to suss out which players he meant. One look back at the Lakers' roster, though, and you can probably make an educated guess.

For what it's worth, Johnson is happy to stay in L.A., switching only colors and locker rooms.

Last season was a year to forget for the Lakers. Let’s see if they can prove Johnson’s assertion wrong this season.
