Ty Lawson wants the Rockets to stay small
Houston Rockets point guard Ty Lawson has only been with the team for a few regular season games, but he already thinks he has a good idea of what works and what doesn't.
With the Rockets struggling to create consistent offense with James Harden going hot and cold and the numerous injuries throughout the roster, Lawson thinks the Rockets should remain small and keep using Marcus Thornton in the starting lineup.
With Lawson, Harden, Thornton and Trevor Ariza, the Rockets are boasting one of the smallest starting units in the league. But Lawson explained why he likes the smallball version so much, via TheDreamShake:
"Since Terrence Jones has been out of the lineup with an injury to his eyelid, Thornton has taken advantage and provided scoring. Thornton has put up 17 points a game (as a starter) while being making nearly 50% of his shots.
"I think it’s working," Ty Lawson said of Thornton in the starting lineup. "He’s knocking down threes, spreading the court a little more, I think it’s working for us we should keep going with it. We're 2-1 with that starting lineup and we're playing a lot better."
