The 76ers probably should've beaten the Knicks on Monday
The Knicks beat the 76ers in double-overtime Monday afternoon in what was probably the unexpected best game of Martin Luther King Day. But before New York actually became victorious, it received a bit of good fortune.
Down three points with only seconds remaining in regulation, Carmelo Anthony hit a three to tie the game and eventually send it to overtime. The Sixers had a chance on one quick, final possession, but Isaiah Canaan airballed a corner three-point attempt. The game went to OT and the Knicks eventually pulled out a victory. According to the NBA's last two-minute report, though, that probably shouldn't have happened:
Amundson (NYK) pushes Noel (PHI) into Thomas (NYK) affecting his ability to retrieve the rebound.
If the foul were actually called on Amundson during Canaan's final attempt, Noel would've gone to the free-throw line in a tie game to try to win it. Sink one of them, and Philly wins. But the call didn't happen, and the Sixers sunk one loss deeper into the NBA's basement.
