Russell Westbrook wears a kilt to Thunder opening night (Video)

Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook likes to wear flashy clothes all the time. His style is one of a kind. Is he seriously wearing a kilt?

Not only is he a one of a kind player for the Oklahoma City Thunder, but star point guard Russell Westbrook always seems to find the next ridiculous pair of clothes to NBA arenas before and after games.

Westbrook’s wardrobe is vibrant, yet cutting edge. Athletes and other celebrities try to emulate Westbrook’s unique fashion since. For the Thunder’s 2016-17 opener on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers, just look at what’s wearing and try to understand it. Or not. Is he seriously wearing a kilt?

We see Thunder head coach Billy Donovan walking in the catacombs of the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia in a conservative suit and tie. Big man Enes Kanter enters the facility in a black, long-sleeved shirt, jeans, and a pair of sneakers.

Next to Kanter is Westbrook. He might be wearing a kilt or just tying his flannel around his waist like the third member of Wyld Stallyns. Westbrook looks like Mr. Robot’s Elliot Alderson with his tight jeans, kicks, and a hoodie on indoors. The only difference is Mr. Alderson/Westbrook decided, “You know what? I’m going to look like Paddington Bear today. I’ve got to really stop binge-watching old episodes of Hey! Arnold.”

Westbrook doesn’t have the pep in his step like Alderson did on that nine-day Adderall binge in Season 2 (Spoiler Alert!), but he’s bound to go all sorts of bananas against the 76ers on Thursday night.

This is the first game that Westbrook will be playing as the lone star of the Thunder franchise. His former buddy Kevin Durant skipped town to play for the juggernaut Golden State Warriors in 2016 NBA free agency. Golden State has lost its last four games that mattered. The same can be said for Durant, as the 2015-16 Thunder lost to the Warriors after being up 3-1 in the 2016 Western Conference Finals.

2016-17 could be a season of liberation for Westbrook. He doesn’t have a diva wideout he has to give attention to out on the perimeter. With the passion he plays on the court, could Westbrook end up being the first player to average a triple-double in a season since Oscar Robertson.

The Thunder will need to win at least 50 games for Westbrook to have a shot at winning league MVP. Even if he and the Thunder come up short this season, he’s still the best dressed guy in basketball.
