Report: Spurs are dark horse to sign Stoudemire

Published Feb. 16, 2015 11:47 a.m. ET

The San Antonio Spurs do not need Amar'e Stoudemire. Their frontcourt is stable, and their defense is one of the best units in the league. But apparently they still want him, and just may be the lucky Western Conference contender that ends up inking the 32-year-old to a no-risk, high-reward contract.

Stoudemire is a six-time All-Star. Those days are clearly long over with, but he's actually still a pretty good offensive threat, especially in the post. If he can give the Spurs 10-15 quality minutes off the bench on their way to repeating as world champions, this addition could be a great one.

Doubt San Antonio at your own peril.
