Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard said he played through a torn MCL and meniscus during last season's Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors, Texans radio reports.
Despite the seeming severity of those injuries, however, Howard apparently did not need surgery on his knee this offseason:

In the final game of that series, Howard scored 18 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked four shots and played 42 minutes in the Rockets' 104-90 loss to the Warriors.
While Howard is reportedly healthy entering the NBA season, Rockets head coach Kevin McHale has said that he will monitor his star center's playing time this year.
