Patrick Patterson provides fascinating, introspective self-analysis

Published Dec. 30, 2015 5:10 p.m. ET

Toronto's Patrick Patterson was recently asked if he finds himself "overthinking" when his shot isn't landing.

During 32 games, Patterson is shooting a career-worst .361% from the field this season. It's a drastic falloff from his mark last season, a more impressive .449%. In fact, he shot better from long-range during his previous two seasons (.371% and .411%) than he is shooting from the field during this year's campaign.

"When my three isn't falling I tend to run myself off the line and try to do too much," said Patterson, via TSN. He is shooting just .310% from 3-point range this season.

"Penetrate and attack the basket and overthink at times, rather than keep letting it fly. Eventually it'll fall in, it just takes time. [I just have to] stay consistent, stay persistent and just stay confident."
