Norris Cole emerging as New Orleans' veteran leader
The New Orleans Pelicans aren't an old team, full of grizzled veterans and guys who know what to expect in a hostile playoff environment. According to Basketball-Reference, only six teams have a younger roster.
But what they do have to help guide them through the first round is championship experience. That's right: Two-time NBA champion Norris Cole is leading the way.
Here's ESPN's Tom Haberstroh with some background into the advice Cole is giving his younger teammates:
“It's all in the preparation. I try to tell the guys, it's all in the preparation. As long as you prepare, which I believe we are, we give ourselves a good chance to win and go out there and compete and fight.”
Ideally, your team leader isn't the backup point guard. But Cole is averaging over 30 minutes per game in New Orleans' two postseason contests thus far. He's a speaker, but also showing how it's done on the floor.
