David West on turning down millions: 'I just want to win games'

David West's decision to turn down $12.6 million from the Indiana Pacers, only to then take the veteran's minimum from the San Antonio Spurs, was arguably the most surprising turn of events this offseason.

But in a recent radio interview in North Carolina, West explained why he made the move he did:

"At this point, I just want to win games and I feel like I’m in a position to win, and I had a choice to make and I just chose to give myself a chance to win. Ultimately, just knowing who they are, competing against them for the years that I was in New Orleans, and sort of developing an appreciation for what they do from afar -- just naturally was one of those places that was in my mind in terms of places I could potentially play.”

Some may not understand West's thought process, but that's fine and totally not his problem.

Different people have different priorities, and clearly, at this stage in his life, West's was to win basketball games and put himself in a position where a championship is possible. Who can blame him?
