Chris Bosh lives a second life as an amateur food blogger

Chris Bosh is currently out of action on the court due to continued issues with blood clots, but it looks like he has found a hobby to keep him busy in the interim: food blogging.

Bosh runs a blog on his website, ChrisBosh.com, and he uses it to discuss everything from parenthood to his playing status to cooking. Bosh's latest post discusses mixing beers and barbecues, and he has all kinds of great tips for readers.

Bosh is all about responsible drinking. While he accepts the notion of enjoying a few beers on a hot day, he did remind readers that there is a negative effect the comes with alcoholic beverages:

What Bosh did not include is that it is helpful to drink water instead of beer to cool down and hydrate. Save the beer as a beverage for taste and relaxation. Still, at least he pointed out the possibility of getting drunk when using beer to quench thirst on a hot day.

"Just be careful if you’re eating and drinking outside. After all, when you’re thirsty and the sun is beating down on you, there’s a good chance you’re going to drink more than one beer. But throwing back porters and hoppy beers—any of those kinds with a higher alcohol content—can come with consequences, so watch out for that."

Much like wine, Bosh recommends pairing beer with food choices. He suggests enjoying fish, sausage or chicken with a lager or pilsner while saving dark or amber brews for a meal like sausage and caramelized onions. Basically sausage goes with anything in Chris Bosh's world.

Like any real foodie, Bosh doesn't limit himself to the traditional use for beer. He also ventured into intermediate level grilling by suggesting readers braise meat to grill in beer, but only if "you're serious about your grilling and your beer."

Bosh's food blogging career stretches beyond beers for barbecues though. He once wrote an entire post about serving up outdoor meals. His suggestions there — do your research, explore Pinterest, plan ahead and try something new — are equally valuable.

For those wondering what Bosh is able to do in his indoor kitchen, the forward showed off his skills on Instagram.

It's not clear what is in the pan, but those scallops look decent.
