Chicago Bulls' Pau Gasol wins Magic Johnson media award

The Magic Johnson award is an annual nod to players of great good will. It's a trophy doled out by the Professionall Basketball Writers' Association, to whoever “best combines excellence on the basketball court with cooperation and dignity in dealing with the media and public,” according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.
It should surprise no one that Chicago Bulls' center Pau Gasol is taking those honors this season; he's the eminent gentle giant."It's easy to be friendly. It's easy to be kind," Gasol said after winning the award. "It rubs off on people, so you want to balance out the negatives in the world with some positives. So that's what I try to do."
Things were not nice between the Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks Monday night, as the first-round series between the teams got a bit testy. Gasol struggled with his shot, dropping just 11 points on 4-of-12 shooting, but added 16 rebounds in a 91-82 Bulls victory. We'll see if Pau and Co. can grab a 3-0 lead when the series shifts to Milwaukee, tonight at 8:00 PM ET.
