Carnegie Deli unveils 'Melo Sandwich

Published Feb. 22, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

New York City's famed Carnegie Deli added a new sandwich to its menu Tuesday to celebrate the latest addition to the Knicks' lineup, superstar forward Carmelo Anthony.

The "Melo Sandwich" was added to the 74-year-old deli's menu the same day reports broke that the former Denver Nuggets star finally was heading to the Big Apple in a three-team trade.

Deli owner Sandy Levine told TMZ the "Melo" includes everything you would ever want in a sandwich including pastrami, corned beef, salami, bacon, lettuce, tomato and Russian dressing on rye bread.

The long-talked-about trade, a three-team blockbuster that includes the Knicks, Nuggets and Timberwolves, was expected to be officially announced late Tuesday or Wednesday, and Anthony could make his Knicks debut Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden against the Bucks.

TMZ reported the towering sandwich will cost hungry diners $21.95. The price reportedly was chosen on purpose -- if they sell three million it will add up to the $65 million deal Anthony reportedly has been seeking throughout the trade talks.
