Andrew Bynum addresses his 'possible' return to the NBA
Its been a minute since Andrew Bynum laced them up.
The 28-year-old former All-Star hasn't suited up for an NBA team since being cut by the Indiana Pacers after a two-game stint in 2014. But maybe—just maybe—don't write the former, longtime Los Angeles Laker off yet.
In a streetside interview with TMZ Sports, Bynum at first said he was retired from the game. Scant moments later, however, he claimed that a comeback was still in the realm of possibility.
"Not sure...anything is possible," Bynum said.
So you're telling me there's a chance.
Of course there is, technically, a chance. There's almost always a mathematical possibility in sports for someone like Bynum—a still-young guy who is, on one hand, an unquestionably gifted athlete, and on the other, a guy who drives off from a gas station with the pump still in his Ferrari.
And while the league is moving away from the 7'0" mammoth center build, there's always a team looking for some size—a serviceable, second-quarter stopgap on the boards. And with the right type of mindset and dedication, maybe Bynum could be that guy somewhere.
But, as it ever was, Bynum's future is chiefly up to Bynum.
Dan is on Twitter. He can't wait to retire, try to make a comeback and have an HBO documentary of him flipping tires and drafting tweets.
