NASCAR: Johnson Wins Martinsville, Punches Ticket Into Final Four

The first race of the round of eight in the NASCAR Chase looked to be one that JGR dominated. However, Jimmie Johnson found his way to the front with 100 laps to go and was able to stay there for the checkered flag.
JGR sent a strong bunch of cars to the track on Sunday but Jimmie Johnson was not going to be denied as he punched his ticket to the final four in the NASCAR Chase for the first time since the new format came into play. Johnson had some issues midway through the race but he was able to push through and be at the front when the race ended.
Jeff Gordon, running his final race once again, finished with a solid top-10 effort. Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick and Kurt Busch all struggled to some degree and will now be in a hole with only two races left before the championship race in Miami.
On the other end of the spectrum, AJ Allmendinger and the NO. 47 team had a solid day. Allmendinger started inside of the top-10 and was able to come home with a top-10 finish. Allmendinger has not had the year that he was hoping for but his team was solid in Sunday at Martinsville.
