McMurray picks up new sponsor

Jamie McMurray hopes his new sponsor Cessna will carry his team to new heights.

Cessna Aircraft Company will support the Earnhardt Ganassi Racing’s No. 1 team in the Sprint Cup Series as well as Chip Ganassi’s IndyCar and Grand-Am Road Racing efforts.

McMurray finished 21st in the Cup point standings last season. The team never recovered after starting the year with a wreck at Daytona International Speedway and an engine failure the following week at Phoenix International Raceway.

McMurray, 26, has six career Cup wins – three which were earned in 2010 when he returned to EGR after a stint with Roush Fenway Racing. That season McMurray won NASCAR’s two most prestigious events, the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400. He capped off the year with a victory in the fall race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, McMurray’s last trip to victory lane.
