Michael McDowell has won the pole for the inaugural Nationwide Children's Hospital 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

McDowell had a lap speed of 96.243 around the twisting, 13-turn road course. He edged A.J. Almendinger, who'll start second, with Owen Kelly third.

Rounding out the top 10 on the grid are Kyle Larson, Nelson Piquet Jr., Regan Smith, Brian Vickers, Sam Hornish Jr., Parker Kligerman and Max Papis.

Nationwide Series points leader Austin Dillon will start at the back. He was unable to qualify because he is also replacing injured Tony Stewart at the NASCAR race at Michigan International Speedway.
