The call to the bullpen is often a quick, 10 second phone call that is hardly worth writing about.

Everyone notices when a reliever gets up, but the call itself? People don't really care.

However, when something goes wrong, as it did for the Pirates, then everyone takes notice.

The Pirates recently had some trouble with the bullpen phone and had to resort to using some hand signals. Take a look:
