Tight hamstring to sideline Pujols a few games, but Angels 'optimistic'

Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols pulled up lame legging out a single in Wednesday night's 6-3 win over the Oakland A's and left the game, but the team isn't anticipating a stint on the disabled list.

The official word after the game was 'left hamstring tightness', but as manager Mike Scioscia told Mike DiGiovanna the Los Angeles Times, the team is staying optimistic regarding Pujols' chance of only missing a few games:

There’s definitely some soreness in there, but he didn’t feel a pop -- it’s more like a cramp,” Scioscia said. “We’re definitely going to err on the side of caution, so we took him out of the game. We’ll see how it sets up in a day or two, but right now, we’re optimistic he won’t be out too long.”

Pujols himself called it a 'weird' injury since he doesn't really have much of a history of hamstring problems:

“It’s weird because I don’t have that much history on the hamstring,” Pujols said. “It feels more like a cramp, but it’s really sore right now. We’ll see how it feels tomorrow.”

Albert is off to a bit of a slow start for the Halos this season, hitting .208 with three home runs and nine RBIs so far in 2015, but with the Angels having difficulties on the offensive side of the game there's no doubt they want him healthy and in the lineup every day whenever possible.
