Steinbrenner's daughter injured at camp

Published Jan. 13, 2012 12:00 a.m. ET

George Steinbrenner's daughter had a tough day in pinstripes.

Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal hurt her leg running out an infield grounder Friday and had to leave the first game of the New York Yankees' fantasy camp for women.

The Yankees vice chair was injured during her first at-bat at the team's spring training complex. The main field at the site is named for her late father, the former owner of the Yankees.

Swindal was hurt in the third inning. After getting treatment on her right leg, she returned to the dugout to watch the final inning.

Swindal wore No. 4 and played on a team coached by former major league pitcher Al Downing. She took part in two-plus hours of on-field drills before the game with her teammates.
