Source: McKeon, 80, accepts Marlins job

Jack McKeon has accepted a job as interim manager with the Florida Marlins, according to a major-league source.

The team will make an official announcement during a 3 p.m. ET news conference at Sun Life Stadium.

McKeon, 80, will become the second-oldest manager in major-league history, according to research by STATS LLC. Connie Mack was 87 during his final season with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1950.

Edwin Rodriguez resigned as the Marlins manager on Sunday, after a 2-19 stretch that dropped the team from two games to 12 1/2 games back in the National League East.

McKeon won the 2003 World Series as the Florida manager and has a 1011-940 record over 15 years in the big leagues. He retired from managing after the 2005 season — or so we thought — and has served as a special assistant to Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria during the past six years.
