Rockies' Kendrick won't pitch against old club, confused by their moves

The Rockies are playing four games against the Phillies this week and Kyle Kendrick is the odd man out. With Kendrick having pitched on Sunday, he won’t get a chance to pitch against his old team. He wanted to though, according to MLB.com:

"I wanted to pitch against these guys here and in Philly," Kendrick said. "I definitely wanted to pitch against these guys because it's the old squad.

Incidentally, one of his replacements on the Phillies staff, Aaron Harang, will be pitching against the Rockies on Tuesday. Kendrick was a bit confused over his replacements in Philadelphia because apparently Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. had told him that he wanted the team to get younger:

"And then he signs Aaron Harang and Jerome Williams," said an amused Kendrick on Monday afternoon at Coors Field, where the Phillies opened a four-game series with the Rockies. "So I was like, [huh]. Honestly, I think it's just part of the game and they wanted some different faces. That's the way it goes.”

While Kendrick is 30, Williams in 33 and Harang is 37.
