Report: Nationals OF Werth charged with driving 105 mph

Washington Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth was charged with reckless driving after being pulled over for going 105 mph in a 55-mph hour zone in Fairfax, Va., on July 6, according to media reports.

The charge is a misdemeanor.

"The Washington Nationals have been in communication with right fielder Jayson Werth regarding this situation for multiple weeks," a Nationals spokesperson said in an e-mailed statement to The Washington Post. "Jayson is cooperating with the authorities. As it is an ongoing legal matter, the team has no further comment."

Werth is hitting .279/.370/.430 with 12 homers and 63 RBI in 112 games this season.
