Report: A's expected to activate Sean Doolittle from D.L. on Tuesday

Published May. 26, 2015 12:07 a.m. ET

The Oakland A's have been without All-Star closer Sean Doolittle so far in 2015, but that will come to an end this week: the club is expected to activate Doolittle from the disabled list on Tuesday.

Jane Lee of MLB.com reported the news on Monday, as manager Bob Melvin informed the media of the team's plans prior to their Memorial Day game against the Detroit Tigers.

As expected, the A's plan to ease Doolittle back into action rather than giving him high-pressure closing duties right away. Said Melvin to Lee: "Whether it's earlier in the game, maybe he can face some lefties, which has been a little bit of an issue for us, and then we can work him into that closer's spot."
