Rangers acquire Kyle Kubitza from Angels in cash deal
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) The Texas Rangers have acquired infielder Kyle Kubitza from the Los Angeles Angels for cash considerations.
After making the deal Tuesday, the Rangers optioned Kubitza to Triple-A Round Rock.
Kubitza was drafted in the third round of the 2011 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves, who traded him to the Angels in January 2015. He made his major league debut last season. He played in 19 games for the Angels - at second base, third base and left field.
The 25-year-old Kubitza was born in Arlington. He graduated from nearby Colleyville Heritage High School before going to Texas State, where he was teammates with Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt.
In 54 games at Triple-A Salt Lake this season, Kubitza hit .253 with two home runs and 19 RBIs.
