A professional baseball player without any facial hair is becoming a rare sight, and the prevalence of bearded ballplayers sparked the curiousity of Los Angeles Dodgers broadcasting legend Vin Scully.
Scully decided to "do some research" and presented a fascinating five-minute history of beards on Earth in the middle of Saturday's Padres-Dodgers game, as only Scully can.
Scully notes that Alexander the Great was one of the first notable enemies of bearded folk.
