Justin Bieboar is team's new mascot

Published May. 12, 2011 1:00 a.m. ET

When the St. Paul Saints take the field for their home opener Thursday night, their new mascot will be there to ham it up: Justin Bieboar, a 1-month-old pig sure to leave the fans squealing.

The still petite porker — expected to expand considerably over the course of the season — will deliver baseballs nightly to the home plate umpire, among other duties for the minor league Saints.

He follows in the hoofsteps of such previous swinish Saints mascots as Brat Favre, Slumhog Millionaire, Boarack Obama, Notorious P.I.G., Piggy Smalls and, of course, Kevin Bacon.

The Justin Bieboar moniker was selected from more than 600 entries in a Name the Pig Contest, and competition was nothing to snort at.

Among the also-ran names were Oprah Pigfrey, Conan O'Briham, Natalie Porkman (The Black Swine), Shaquille O'Squeal and Squeally Dan, the team reported on its website.

The Saints also made it a point to say there was no truth to the rumor Justin Bieboar would share the same hairstyle as teen pop singer Justin Bieber.
