Danks throws 5 shutout innings, White Sox hold Cubs to 1 hit

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) John Danks pitched five shutout innings as the Chicago White Sox edged the Chicago Cubs 3-2 Friday.

Danks entered the game with a 12.10 ERA but had little trouble with the Cubs, striking out seven and walking two. Five White Sox pitchers combined on a one-hitter.

Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks continued his fine spring by allowing one run in five innings while lowering his ERA to 1.29

Austin Jackson and Brett Lawrie each had a sacrifice fly for the White Sox.

The Cubs scored twice in the eighth with the help of two errors.
