A's left-hander Braden on DL with elbow stiffness

Published Jul. 3, 2010 10:15 p.m. ET

The Oakland Athletics have placed left-hander Dallas Braden on the 15-day disabled list because of elbow stiffness.

Braden, who hasn't pitched since June 22, was scratched from his scheduled start in Baltimore on Tuesday. It was hoped he could start Saturday's game in Cleveland, but the Athletics announced Friday he would be unable to pitch.

Braden is 0-5 in eight starts since pitching a perfect game against Tampa Bay on May 9. He is 4-7 with a 3.83 ERA in 15 starts.

Right-hander Clayton Mortensen has been called up from Triple-A Sacramento to start against the Indians.
