Tennessee close to 'reeling in' elite safety prospect Nigel Warrior?

Published Sep. 18, 2015 12:27 p.m. ET

While Tennessee was devastated by the results on the field last week, as Oklahoma stole a game they had no business winning, the future of the Vols defense may very well have been in the stands soaking in the atmosphere.

Among Tennessee's visitors for the OU game, 2016 four-star defensive back Joejuan Williams, 2016 four-star athlete Mecole Hardman, 2017 five-star defensive back Deangelo Gibbs and 2016 four-star safety Nigel Warrior.

According to Dawg Nation, Warrior spoke glowingly of his trip to Rocky Top:

“I think they’re doing a great job of reeling me in right now.”

Warrior is of course the son of former Tennessee All-American and NFL standout Dale Carter. During his tenure in Knoxville, Butch Jones has done a masterful job of landing Tennessee's "legacy" recruits and Warrior would likely be the biggest haul yet.

The Georgia safety is also considering the Bulldogs, Alabama, Ohio State and Oregon. Can Tennessee beat the current elite programs in the nation for Warriors' services? Check out some of his highlights from the latest Nike camp The Opening:
