Getting stronger: UGA name new strength and conditioning coaches

Published Jan. 7, 2016 8:51 p.m. ET

After failing to pry away his good friend Scott Cochran from Alabama, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart eventually moved on to other candidates to fill roles in his strength and conditioning program. Several weeks after moving on from Cochran, the Bulldogs have named Scott Sinclair director of strength and conditioning and Ed Ellis as senior associate director of strength and conditioning.

Sinclair previously held the same post at Marshall and served as a member of the UCF staff for nine seasons. Ellis has over 29 years of experience and has worked at Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Illinois State, Ole Miss, Arkansas and UCF.

These staff announces, coupled with the news of Alabama secondary coach Mel Tucker likely coming to Athens as a defensive coordinator, leave Smart's first Georgia staff that much closer to being fully staffed in time to hit the road to recruit before National Signing Day.
