Clemson Football 2017 recruiting class: Chase Brice breakdown
Leading up to signing day, we are going to be analyzing Clemson’s entire recruiting class. Today we are looking at four-star quarterback commit Chase Brice.
Chase Brice (QB) Loganville, Georgia:
247sports ranks Brice as the 294th player in the country and the 12th pro-style quarterback in the nation. The senior signal caller recently led his Grayson high school football team to a Georgia 7A State Championship.
Best Attributes:
Chase Brice is one of two quarterback commits in Clemson’s 2017 recruiting class. The other is Hunter Johnson. Brice may not receive the attention that Johnson does, but, he is no less talented. I think Brice is one of the more undervalued prospects in the 2017 class due to the amount of talent on his high school team. Grayson high school is one of the top programs in the country featuring top prospects like South Carolina commit Jaymest Williams and DeAngelo Gibbs, among others.
Player comparison: Andy Dalton, TCU (Cincinnati Bengals)

I am not calling Brice an NFL quarterback by any means., rather he reminds me of Andy Dalton while at TCU. Andy Dalton didn’t have eye popping measurables in college, he wasn’t necessarily fast, did not posses elite arm strength; however, Dalton was a habitual winner. That is Chase Brice, the kid will consistently make the throws he needs to in order to win. What more could you ask for in a quarterback?
Expectations:
Chase Brice is walking into a very talented, yet, unproven quarterback room at Clemson. The most experienced quarterback on the roster next year will likely be Kelly Bryant which isn’t saying much. Not many people are talking about the possibility of Chase staring as a true freshman, with good reason. Redshirt freshman, Zerrick Cooper, Kelly Bryant and incoming freshman Hunter Johnson are garnering much of the attention at the moment. I’m not willing to count Brice out just yet, he seems to thrive in highly competitive situations, which should serve him well next season. A redshirt year would not do Brice bad either, allowing him to work on his already sound frame. All-in-all I am excited about the player that Chase Brice will be for the Tigers in the near future.
