Chad Walker Named As Arkansas' Outside Linebacker Coach

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 8:47 p.m. ET

On Friday, Chad Walker was announced as the new outside linebackers coach for the Arkansas Razorbacks via the team’s twitter.

The Arkansas Razorbacks football team is now fully staffed with the addition of Chad Walker. Walker was announced as the new outside linebackers coach for the Hogs.

If you were a bit unsure of the last hire Bielema made, this one is sure to please. Walker has a coaching resume that is not only really impressive but shows that he has learned from the best in the business.

Starting with his days at LSU, Walker was the Defensive assistant from 2003 to 2004. He was on the staff for Nick Saban and helped with the 2003 national championship. It’s always great to hire someone who has learned under the best to ever do it.

A Resume Of Success

Chad left the Tigers for the NFL where he was at the Miami Dolphins from 2005 to 2007. His job for the Dolphins was the defensive quality control coach. He left Miami and spent time at some smaller schools as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach before reaching another Power 5 school.

In 2013, Walker was brought in at Oklahoma to restructure the defense into the 3-4 scheme (sound familiar?). After performing a complete makeover at Oklahoma, Chad went back to the NFL but this time reached the mountain top.

I am sure you know that the Atlanta Falcons and the Patriots played in the Super Bowl this past year right? Well fun fact, the new OLB coach at Arkansas was on the staff for Atlanta as the defensive assistant. So that puts walker under Saban with a national title and he’s coached in a Super Bowl and finally, he is a 3-4 guru.

This is the best hire Bielema could have made. Having a coach that lives the 3-4 and has been on the big stage at different levels is huge. I am really looking forward to seeing this defense next season after seeing this coaching staff being put together. Woo pig.
