Auburn Football Survives Vanderbilt, Controls Destiny

Auburn Football escaped with a win Saturday against a Vanderbilt 26-13.
You knew the Commodores wouldn’t make this easy as they’ve been playing much better lately, but Auburn certainly helped them.
The defense really struggled early, and were getting beat at the line of scrimmage.
To much surprise for just about everyone, Sean White didn’t start the game because of an injury.
I really think the coaches though they could get John Franklin III some work in this game to see how he would do, while White rests.
Unfortunately, the offense was very stagnant against a good Vanderbilt defense.
Eventually Sean White came into the game and was able to get the offense moving.
Kamryn Pettway continued to carry the load at running back getting 25 carries for 175 yards. He had a long of 60.
Pettway was heading to the endzone on another long run to put the game away, but pulled up with an injury.
Vanderbilt blocked a field goal that also would have sealed the game, and then had a solid drive going before Joshua Holsey got an interception.
That’s two weeks in a row Holsey has come up with a game-ending interception.
This clearly wasn’t Auburn’s best game, but they came away with the win and now controls their destiny in the SEC West.
I was really disappointed in our defense as they were less physical for most of he game and allowed 16 points to a very bad offense.
For all of those who’ve been wanting to see John Franklin III all season, I think now you know why Sean White won the job.
It’s not that Franklin was terrible, but White is much more effective at moving the football in this offense.
With Texas A&M losing, Auburn now controls its own destiny in the SEC West race with just two conference games left.
This team is starting to look a little banged up with White and Pettway both dealing with injuries.
If those two aren’t healthy for Georgia we could be in trouble.
But as an Auburn fan, you have to be happy with where your team is at in this point of the season.
This certainly wasn’t Auburn’s best game, but they found a way to win, and that’s all that matters.
