Youngstown State beats Green Bay 103-93 behind Morse
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) Cameron Morse scored a career-high 44 points on 72.2-percent shooting from the field as Youngstown State overwhelmed Green Bay 103-93.
The 6-foot-2 sophomore guard entered the game averaging 21.8 points per game and shooting 49.2 percent in his last four games. His previous career best was 28 points on Nov. 21 against Florida Gulf Coast. His 44 points ties him for ninth most in program history.
Reggie Kemp was the last Penguin to score more than 40 points when he had 46 on Feb. 6, 1993. Only seven other players in Penguins history have scored more in a game.
Morse shot 13 for 18 from the field and 15 for 17 from the free-throw line. His free throws made ties the school record and free throw attempts ties him for fourth.
Leading 47-45 at half, Youngstown State (7-10, 2-2) went on a 12-3 run after intermission to take control of the game.
Charles Cooper led Green Bay (10-6, 3-1) with 19 points.
