Woodley leads NW State to 87-78 win over McNeese State

NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) Zeek Woodley had 24 points to lead Northwestern State to an 87-78 win over McNeese State on Saturday.

Northwestern State, which led throughout, was up 44-28 at the break and led 69-54 midway in the second half.

McNeese State's Jamaya Burr and Shaun Johnson drilled consecutive 3-pointers to close to 71-63 with 7:40 left as the Cowboys cut the advantage to single digits for the first time in the second half. James Harvey completed a 3-point play and McNeese State trailed 79-74.

Northwestern State's Matt Killian drilled a 3-pointer for an 82-74 lead with 1:49 left.

Sabri Thompson had 17 and Devonte Hall added 16 for Northwestern State (7-15, 4-8 Southland).

Burr led McNeese State (6-16, 4-8) with 21 points. Craig McFerrin had 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Northwestern State had won three straight before falling to league-leading Stephen F. Austin 83-72 on Monday.
