UMass uses second-half run to beat Holy Cross 68-60

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) Donte Clark had 18 points with seven rebounds and Massachusetts beat Holy Cross 68-60 on Sunday.

Seth Berger added 13 points, Luwane Pipkins 11 and Rashaan Holloway 10 with eight rebounds for the Minutemen (3-1), who shot 50 percent from the floor and made eight 3-pointers while surviving 23 turnovers.

The Crusaders (0-3) also had eight 3-pointers but shot just 30.9 percent overall. Malachi Alexander and Anthony Thompson scored 14 points each while Patrick Benzan had 12 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Benzan's double-double was the first this season for Holy Cross.

Trailing by nine in the second half, the Crusaders rallied to tie at 50-all on Benzan's basket with seven minutes remaining. But the Minutemen went on a 15-2 run, capped by a Zach Lewis bucket for a 65-52 lead with two minutes remaining.
