Thomas has 18, Texas A&M-CC rallies to beat SHSU 75-70

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) Rashawn Thomas slammed home a dunk and blocked a shot in the final 48 seconds as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi rallied to beat Sam Houston State 75-70 on Saturday night.

Thomas, who got into foul trouble early, made 12 of his 18 points in the final minutes of the second half. He was scoreless in the first half but made eight free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Sam Houston State was up 66-55 with 6:12 to go but was scoreless in the last 3:17.

The victory all but assured the Islanders (22-6, 13-3 Southland Conference) the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament with two games remaining.

Hameed Ali had 14 points and Jelani Currie added 13 for Texas A&M-CC.

Dakarai Henderson had 19 points to lead Sam Houston (15-13, 10-5) which had won three straight. Torry Butler added 11 points and Jamal Williams chipped in 10.
