Stephen F. Austin gets 11th straight win, beats Texas A&M-CC

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) Demetrious Floyd nailed six from long range and scored 22 points as Stephen F. Austin won its 11th straight Southland Conference game, knocking off Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 70-58 on Saturday night.

Ty Charles added 10 points and Thomas Walkup, who had 30 or more points in the last two games, contributed nine for SFA (18-5, 11-0), which remains alone atop the conference standings. Texas A&M-CC (18-6, 9-3) is in second.

The Islanders made 24 of 48 field goals, compared to SFA's 19 of 44, but the Lumberjacks scored 23 points at the line while Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was just 7 of 13.

The Lumberjacks, leading 31-28 at the half, started the second period on a 10-5 run and held a 65-51 lead with 3:13 left. They scored seven free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Rashawn Thomas had 13 points and 14 rebounds for the Islanders.
