SE Missouri St steams past Hannibal-LaGrange late, 84-61

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) Trey Kellum scored 23 points and Southeast Missouri State needed a small, second-half comeback to defeat NAIA in-state rival Hannibal-LaGrange, 84-61 in a nonconference game Tuesday night.

Greg Nicoll hit a jumper with 35 seconds left in the first half to send Hannibal-LaGrange into halftime with a 37-36 lead over the Redhawks, and Brandon Eschenbach knocked down a jumper a minute into the second half to push the Trojans lead to 39-36. Tim Pace knocked down a 3-pointer that tied at 48-48 with 15:10 left in the game.

The Redhawks (3-16) got untracked quickly, starting with a jumper by Isiah Jones to start a 18-4 run that broke the game open. SE Missouri State doubled up the Trojans in the final 20 minutes, 48-24.

Jamaal Calvin added 16 points for SE Missouri State and Jones added 14.

De'Shawn Terrell scored 19 points to lead the Trojans.
