Savannah State needs comeback to top NAIA Allen, 83-72

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) Chris Martin hit six three-pointers to score 25 points and Savannah State ran away from Allen, an NAIA school from Columbia, S.C., for an 83-72 non-conference victory Tuesday night.
The victory pulled the Tigers within one game of .500 with three games left in the regular season.
Allen built a 45-36 lead in the first half, but the Tigers roared back in the second, outscoring the Yellow Jackets by 20 points to win going away.
Martin opened the second-half scoring with a 3-pointer. Lenjo Kilo scored on a layup with under 16 minutes left to tie the game at 49-49 and Martin's layup 17 seconds later gave Savannah State the lead.
Martin finished shooting 9 of 17 from the field, including 6 of 10 from behind the arc. Kilo finished with 15 points and nine rebounds for Savannah State (12-13).
Arvel Atwater paced Allen with 23 points.
