Providence beats Creighton, 70-66; forges 3-way tie for 4th

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) Ben Bentil scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Providence used a late rally to beat Creighton, 70-66 on Wednesday night.

The victory pulled the Friars into a three-way tie for fourth place in the Big East Conference with Creighton and Butler with one game left.

Creighton took a four-point lead at halftime and pushed it to six on James Milliken's jumper seconds into the second half. Bentil pulled Providence even at 49-49 midway through the period. Isaiah Zierden gave Creighton a 55-54 lead with 7:15 to play, but Jalen Lindsey put Providence ahead 56-55 on a 3-point play with 5:38 left. Kyron Cartwright hit a pair of free throws to make it 67-61 with 55 seconds left.

Senior Kris Dunn finished with 17 points, six rebounds and six assists for Providence (21-9, 9-8) in his final home game.

Milliken finished with 26 points to help pace Creighton (18-12, 9-8).
