AUSTIN, Texas (AP) Team officials say swingman Jordan Barnett, one of the Texas Longhorns' top 2014 recruits, has asked to transfer and leave the Longhorns.

A terse statement Tuesday night from the Longhorns says the sophomore guard and small forward from Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis has told the coaching staff of his intention to transfer.

This season, Barnett has played in just four of the Longhorns' 15 games, shooting 4 of 7 from the field and 3 of 4 from the line. He was averaging just 6 minutes per game this season with 3.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in each. His best performance this season came Dec. 8 against Texas-San Antonio, a 13-point effort in 13 minutes of play.

As a freshman, he played in 21 of the Longhorns' 34 games, averaging 1.9 points and 1.3 rebounds in 8.5 minutes per game.
